What is ONDC & How to save money from ONDC?
What is ONDC? Complete information about this will be found in this post. In which ONDC’s full form, use, and benefits will be known. In such a situation, forget whatever you have heard about it so far, just read this post and you will know the story of this eCommerce revolution happening in India from here.
Once upon a time when UPI was launched in India, a new revolution came in Digital Payment System, and this time an Integrated Platform has launched for E-commerce, ONDC whose full form is Open Network for Digital Commerce.
The way UPI is Platform Independent works with any App whether GPay, PhonePe, or Paytm. Similarly, Open Network for Digital Commerce will also be Platform Independent i.e. will work with all Platforms like Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, and Zomato. So let’s know about it in some detail.
As I said, the full form of ONDC is Open Network for Digital Commerce and it is an Independent Digital Ecommerce Platform. If seen as a company, it is a private non-profit company created by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India. Right now this is a completely new platform that is running in its testing stage in some cities and it started on 31 December 2021.
If we talk in simple language then it is a platform independent of ecommerce. Where any small or big business can be connected. Customers can order from Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, and Paytm anywhere using only the ONDC platform. For this, they do not need to use any specific app.
For example,
Suppose Flipkart is giving discounts on a phone and at the same time Amazon is also giving more discounts than Flipkart on the same phone. So in such a situation, if the customer checks only by visiting Flipkart, then he will never get the idea that another platform is offering more discount than that.
But if the customer will use ONDC App or Platform, then he will know immediately that Amazon is giving more discounts on this phone than Flipkart and he can order the phone directly from ONDC without opening Amazon App.
Who will benefit from ONDC?
There must be a big question coming to mind who will be benefited from this type of platform, Buyer or Seller what is today’s marketplace like Zomato, Amazon, Flipkart, and others,
All of you will be aware that some Apps are popular for online shopping in India, such as Flipkart, Amazon, and Myntra for Shopping, and platforms like Swiggy, and Zomato for Food are popular.
In such a situation, these people are Seller who use their Platform, then for this, they take commission according to Per Sell and also charge for using Platform then further say that run Ads by investing money so that the product top Can be seen
But with the arrival of ONDC, now all this arbitrariness will not work and it will benefit both the vendor and the customer.
- All the small and big sellers will get a big marketplace for them where more brands and customers can compete.
- You can buy all kinds of products from one place from one cart.
- Now the seller will not have to pay more charges, which will increase the sale and due to this, the customer will also get the goods at a lower price.
Small businesses will get the benefit
There are many small businesses that are not able to earn even after having a big marketplace. Because due to the charges they have to increase the price and due to the high price the customers go towards big brands. But due to the coming of ONDC, now small business will not have to depend on marketplaces like Zomato, or Swiggy.
They can sell their products directly by registering on ONDC. The charges are very less, so here small businesses can earn profit by selling their goods at low prices.
Customers will get the big benefit
Customers are going to get the most benefit because from here they will get a Seamless Shopping experience, along with many products that will also be available at low prices here Vendors’ platform fees will be charged very less so that they can minimize the product price.
Whether it is to order food or clothes, it will be done from one platform for all and it is believed that in the future, the section of services will also be added here, that is, all the work will be done by the customer through one App.

A seller needs to raise a ticket with the seller app from where the order was received with all proofs of damage – a copy of proof of delivery with remarks, packaging, and images/videos of the damaged product. The seller app will take it up with the logistics partner and investigate, if the loss is conclusively proven to be due to logistics failure, the logistics app will reimburse the seller app as per their transaction level agreement and the seller app will subsequently reimburse the seller Agreement between the two. If it is not proven that the product was damaged due to a logistics defect, the damage cost is suggested as a cost of doing business for the seller app/seller.
